Renaissance Festival

This weekend, Jimmy and I went with a group of friends to the Renaissance Festival in Maryland. It was really... interesting. It was like being at a dungeons and dragons festival. Not what I expected. The festival is huge-Its like an entire city (robin hood style). Its so big and elaborate that the "buildings" stay up all year round even though the festival is only two months long.

We really had a lot of fun, but its definitly different to stand out because you are dressed in normal clothes.

There were all sorts of activites and crazy foods (everything seemed to be on sticks-cheesecake, mac and cheese, 'steak on a stake').

My favorite was the jousting. It was really incredible to watch. It obviously wasn't real jousting, but everything looked totally believable with sticks breaking and people falling off the horse. I couldn't even ride a horse with armour on, let alone ride and fight.

Sword Swallower. Still not sure if I believe he was really swallowing the sword, but I don't know how he would have done it if it wasn't.

A Birthday in NYC!

Jimmy surprised me this year with a trip to NYC. We woke up Saturday at 4am and drove up to NYC with no plans other than just relax and hang out. We had so much fun.

Jimmy found a festival they have in Little Italy, Feast of San Gennaro, and it was huge. It attracks 1 million people and goes on for blocks and blocks and blocks. There were all sorts of booths with homeade pasta, italian desserts, carnival games and junk for sell.

I tried deep fried oreos. I'm not sure who thought of taking one of the unhealthiest cookies out there and making it worse, but it sure was popular.

The canoli's were my favorite. There were all sorts of crazy flavors; vanilla, peanut butter, chocolate, strawberry, brithday cake. Of course I tried as many as possible.

Since we hadn't eaten enough already (haha) we stopped by Max Brenners. It is probably my favorite place to get chocolate in the city. Its a restaurant, but they are famous for their chocolate.

Of course we had to do some shopping too. It was my weekend but Jimmy couldn't go to NYC without some shopping. It was cute though...he loved shopping for his new niece.

I'm sure Jimmy was counting down until Oprah's Season Premiere before he even saw the real countdown in TimeSquare.

All Jimmy and I did Sunday was walk around Central Park. I love exploring that park. There is always something new to find. And so many great picture spots.

Naturally, we had to stop by Serendipity 3, for some Frozen Hot Chocolate.

The Disney Store

Rockafeller Center

Time Square

The M&M Store

Hershey Stsore (did you notice how many pics are centered around food, especially Chocolate?)

New Baby

Jimmy is an uncle again. He spent last weekend down in NC with his sister and new niece. She is so cute. Katelyn Dawn Collins. 6lbs 10oz. Born September 5, 2009. And cuter still is Jimmy holding her!

Labor Day with the Family

My family came up to visit for labor day. We took Cache swimming, played basketball, played board games and ate lots of good food!
