Easter with the Kids

Today the kids from Sullivan House and I had an Easter party. We were supposed to do it at the local park, but it rained and we ended up having to do it all inside. Afterwords, there was dye, frosting and chocolate on the wall, ceilings and every inch of the floor. 20 kids under the age of 12 in a small playroom designed for 10 is not the brightest idea...but it sure is a lot of fun!

The kids did not have the patience to dye one egg multiple colors and instead just plunged the entire egg in the cup of dye. Most of them also didn't understand the concept of the "dipper" and instead used their hands to put the eggs in the dye and take them out. Despite what the box says, vinegar does not help get dye off kids hands. I'm sure all their mothers just love me now.

The kids also got to decorate cookies. I had no idea that so much frosting could fit on one cookie.

Finally, we had an easter egg hunt. We tried to make some of the eggs difficult for the older kids. I was sure it would take forever for the kids to find all the eggs and that there was no chance they would ever find them all, but somehow these small kids found 400 plastic eggs in about 3 1/2 minutes. I have never seen a room cleared that quick, and i've never seen little kids move so fast.
